My IoT experience is built on operational experience throughout the IoT value chain from embedded systems - hardware and software, to device operating systems - RTOS, Linux, Android, to middleware and applications. On top of this foundation is my recent consulting experience working with IoT companies moving AI to the edge. I have worked with large corporations - like Intel, Midea, and Tieto, as well as startups - like Crea.Vision building AI-enabled products to create autonomous spaces.
MOBILE - THE PLANET'S LARGEST PLATFORM
There are over 1.5B smartphones being delivered every year, with an installed base of 4B units (6B by 2020) being used by a global population of 7.5B people. This is the largest platform in history - by a lot.
As smartphone manufacturers focus on improving the user experience, AI technology is being used to deliver super personalized services driven from an array of on-device sensors. This billion unit volume of smartphones is driving the commoditization of on-device AI technologies - both hardware and software.
My mobile expertise is built on 10 years of leadership positions at top tier mobile companies like Huawei, Motorola Mobile and Palm (it's okay if you don't remember the Palm Pilot). On top of this foundation is my recent consulting experience working with mobile software companies like Zenly, an explosive new mobile app delivering a location-based social platform. From 2015 to 2017, I consulted with Zenly and had both a strategic role (Advisor) and operational roles (Business Development and International Growth Marketing). The strategy, design, and key growth metrics quickly caught the attention of investors. In its first year after being launched on Google Play and Apple iTunes, Zenly completed two rounds of funding (Series A @$11M, Series B @$20M). Sweet.
